Oldham Eagles became the 2025 ENG U10 Netball Cup Champions after a convincing win in the final against Sutton Town. The event took place at the Essex Sports Arena, and with over 300 spectators in attendance, it was the perfect venue for future netball stars to showcase their skills.
Group Stages
The group stage process was relatively competitive, with only Old Bridgians and Oldham Eagles coming out unscathed and entering the seeding round unbeaten. Poole and Penketh Panthers battled it out for the top spot in Group A after they drew against each other 6-6. The group was tough, but Poole came out on top due to their goal difference.
Turnford had to work hard for their top-place finish in Group B after they were held to a draw by YWCA Bury. Bury managed to finish the group stages without a loss, but two draws meant they finished second. Sutton Town, the champions from the Midlands, struggled early on but did get a win in their final game against Royals—a win that was pivotal for their confidence going into the knock-outs.
Old Bridgians went against the form book and finished top of Group C despite having the Southern Champions Shan to contend with. In an epic final game of the group, Old Bridgians won 8-7 against Shan to finish on top.
Oldham Eagles were expected to dominate their group and record impressive wins. Oldham Red gave them their best challenge, only losing 11-5. It was a tough group for Starz and Wodson Park, but for Starz, it was a group that set them up well for the knock-out games.

Seeding Round
This was a new format for the teams involved. This round decided the team's overall position going into the knock-outs, and the higher up you went in the rankings, the more important it was to the team's overall success.
Oldham Eagles and Turnford won the battle of the top teams. Shan bounced back from their defeat to Old Bridgians to get a narrow win over YWCA Bury, and Starz was starting to gain momentum with their win over Hertford Hornets. Sutton Town once again lost against Bramhall, which derailed them going into the last sixteen. Wodson Park got their first win of the competition, and so did Wilmslow Lightning.

Last 16
This was the serious part of the competition. The teams had battled it out for the best position possible going into the knock-out section, and it was time to see who progressed to the quarter-finals.
Oldham Eagles once again impressed, but Stamford Rutland, who came into this game as the lowest-ranked team, did well initially to keep the game competitive. Old Bridgians cruised past Wodson Park, along with Oldham Red and Poole NC, who won their games convincingly.
Shocks were to come as Shan, who managed to go into the quarter-finals as a top-eight team, took on Sutton Town, who, as champions of the Midlands, weren't expected to play Shan this early due to their low position. Sutton Town had performed way below average until finally waking up and defeating the Southern champions, Sutton Town secured at least a top-eight finish, something they could have only dreamt of while competing in the groups. Starz, who came third in their group, made it three wins on the bounce after a narrow victory over Penketh Panthers.

Quarter Finals
There were some great games in the quarter-finals as the competition started to heat up. Oldham Eagles once again delivered a fauless performance against Bramhall to adavance to the semi-finals. Starz took on Turnford, which was an incredible game. Both teams were so focused and determined to win, but in the end, the West London side Starz managed to book a semi-final place with an 8-6 win.
The Sutton Town and Old Bridgians game will go down as an ENG classic. With the match a draw, it went into extra time, and unbelievably, it stayed a draw after Sutton Town scored a late goal on the buzzer to send the tie into a golden goal scenario. Old Bridgians had a couple of chances to win the golden goal, but the pressure was getting to the players, and a couple of shots were missed. Sutton Town composed themselves and made their way up the court to eventually win the game and advance to the semi-finals.
In another shock win result, Oldham Red lost to Poole, which meant that only one representative team from the North made it to the semi-finals: Oldham Eagles.

Semi-Finals
After a positive start, Poole NC suffered a huge defeat against the Oldham Eagles. With the score 2-2 and Poole looking to take the lead, a turnover by Oldham Eagles got the ball rolling on multiple goals being scored without reply.
Sutton Town and Starz was another classic encounter. After Sutton Town's dramatic quarter-final win, they won in dramatic style again. The game was a mirror image of the previous match against Old Bridgians, and it went to overtime and a golden goal. Starz had the chance to win the game but missed the match-winning shot, and once again, Sutton Town scored to win the game and reach their first U10 Netball Cup Final.

Final
We all wanted an eventful final, but on this occasion, it wasn't the occasion we desired; it was an expected outcome. Sutton Town did fantastically to get to this point in the competition after a slow start. They probably had nothing left in the tank after their heroic performances in the quarter-finals and semi-finals. They took on Oldham Eagles, who had cruised into the final and wouldn't slow up now. A dominant performance by Oldham Eagles saw them win the game and the crown as our U10 National Champions, and it was the second year in succession that the Oldham side won this event.
That was the end of an incredible event, and we can't wait to do it all again in 2026.
